I was born in Faulkton, South Dakota on August 5, 1950. My early childhood was spent on small farms and towns in eastern and central South Dakota. At 10 years of age my family moved to Rapid City where I graduated from Cathedral High School in 1968. Several of my classmates met last weekend in order to celebrate our fifty-year reunion.
After graduating from high school I entered college at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and finished my Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work in 1973 at the University of South Dakota. I held several positions in the Human Services realm of experience including a position with the South Dakota Department of Social Services from December 1973 – August 1979. In August 1979 I enrolled at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. I was awarded a Master’s Degree in Social Work in May 1981.
From my educational experience at University of Nebraska until 1992, I worked in the Human Service field at various agencies in the states of Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
In February 1992 I accepted a position at Three Rivers Mental Health and Chemical Dependency as a Mental Health therapist. I retired from that position approximately three years ago and now live in Rapid City.
