Child Services Manager

Summary of Position

Under the direction of the Child Services Director, the Child Services Manager (CSM) will manage the day-to-day department services for the Sacred Heart Child Services Department. The CSM is responsible for leading and supporting the ongoing development and implementation of the Child Services Department and Sacred Heart Center Mission. The CSM is responsible for the overall daily operations of the residential component of the Sacred Heart Center Child Services program and direct care staff. This is an exempt position.

Core Responsibilities

The primary functions of the CSM is to enhance the quality of care for the students we serve and to promote continuity
of care while the student is in the care of Sacred Heart Center

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for overall department management of the Child Services (CS) client services and
programs, including ensuring compliance with all regulations, licensing, and contract requirements,
and all program policies and procedures.
2. Provides leadership to and supervision of CS staff, including all Youth Care Workers (YCW), the Administrative Assistant, and the Food Supply Specialist, and ensures the development and
achievement of individual staff goals. Under the oversight of the CS Director, the CSM is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and updating client programs. Works in partnership with the CS Case Manager for client treatment plans and reporting requirements.
3. Responsible for managing and tracking the schedules for CS staff and coordinates with the CS Case Manager and YCW Supervisor to ensure appropriate staffing for client appointments and transports.
4. Maintains a professional work environment to ensure each client receives the appropriate services and
that staff are trained to meet the changing demands of the program and shelter.
5. Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in weekly/bi-weekly meetings such as CS staff meetings, placing
agencies, counselors, other service providers, and attorneys/prosecutors as needed, as well as coordinating cases with the CS Case Manager for effective staffing.
6. Coordinate with staff and therapists in identifying and arranging educational groups and classes such
as independent living skills, anger management, behavior management, etc.
7. Provide oversight and assist with preadmissions processes, orientation, client intakes, and assessment
of newly admitted clients.
8. Responsible for reporting concerns to the CS Director and/or the appropriate outside agency such as DSS, DHS, etc., where appropriate.
9. Facilitate meetings with other agencies based on client needs. (e.g. Work, Schools, Behavioral Health,
Job Training, Independent Living Skills/ Facilities, treatment centers, etc.) and ensure staff work
approved methodologies for each resident in securing needed services and resources.
10. Provide general management of the CS budget, under the oversight of the CS Directors, and ensure all
spending is approved and in alignment with standards.
11. Provide oversight of internal petty cash, incident reports, PQI, Staff Surveys, and other internal policies
and procedures.
12. Lead and manage staff meetings, coordinating with the CS Director and Case Manager.
13. Provides other services and work duties as needed to meet the needs of the Sacred Heart Center and its ability to carry out its mission.

Qualifications

1. Minimum High School diploma or GED is required
2. Graduate from Post-Secondary Vocational Technical program or college with appropriate certification
or degree is preferred
3. Maintain confidentiality in all departments
4. Computer skills, must possess basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook
with the ability to learn job-specific programs and software
5. Interpersonal skills, must be able to communicate effectively
6. Possess a valid South Dakota driver’s license
7. Pass Tribal and State Background checks.

Physical Demands

 Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
 Driving is required.
 Some supervision may require standing for prolonged periods.
 Regularly lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance; occasionally lift up to 75-100 lbs with assistance.

Expectations of Hours Worked

At least 40 hours per week; will include weekend, evening, and on-call hours
