Fr. Joe Dean, SCJ

Fr. Joe Dean, SCJ, born in 1947, was raised in the Grand Rapids, MI area.  He is the oldest of seven children.  He took his first vows on September 8, 1966.

He has completed a BA in philosophy and an M.Div. in theology.  He was ordained as a priest on June 24, 1984.  Additionally, Fr. Joe Dean holds an MA in history from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and an AM in history from Harvard University.

He taught Church History at Sacred Heart School of Theology from 1984 through 1992.  He preached parish missions from 1993 through Lent, 2008.

Fr. Joe Dean has been at Lower Brule, SD since January 1, 2009.  He also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Sacred Heart Center.
