REVEREND JOHN PAUL TRASK
Fr. John Paul, as he is commonly called, is a priest of the Diocese of Rapid City, serving at All Saints Parish of Eagle Butte, SD. Born and raised in western South Dakota, he is not far from home in Eagle Butte and is happy to be serving the people of the Cheyenne River Reservation. Fr. John Paul believes that being a Board Member of the Sacred Heart Center is another way to become more godlike: “Father of orphans, defender of widows, such is God in his holy place” (Psalm 68.5).
He attended the seminary schools of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Winona, MN, and Theological College in Washington, DC totaling 8 years before receiving ordination on July 2, 2015. He served as an assistant priest in Eagle Butte for one year, followed by an assistant in Spearfish/Belle Fourche for three, before returning to Eagle Butte in the summer of 2019.
Fr. John Paul says, “the Sacred Heart Center is open to people of any and every faith, of course, but the mission of the Sacred Heart Center is ultimately inspired by and seeks to spread the love of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ to all.”
This is what energizes and motivates Fr. John Paul.
