Summary of Position
The Director of Family Violence Services is responsible for the overall management, operation, and programs of Sacred
Heart Center’s Family Violence Services and Women’s Shelter. Duties include attending to the oversight of day-to-day
on-site service delivery and related operations in collaboration with other program directors at SHC; active participation
and leadership ensuring high-quality services and programs, implementing programs following guidelines of grants, the
SHC strategic plan, and local, state, and federal requirements. This is an exempt position.

Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the overall administration, management, supervision, and operations of the Family Violence Services
and Women’s Shelter program, including ensuring compliance with all regulations, grant/contract requirements, and
all program policies and procedures.
2. Oversee reports, reporting requirements, budget expenditures, and billings.
3. Assist with the development of the annual program budget including the development of capital purchases related to
the programs of FVS.
4. Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of programming, services, and service delivery concerning meeting the
overall program goals, developing, and implementing new and/or enhanced programming and services, and
responsible for ongoing program development.
5. Responsible for the overall supervision of program staff, including oversight of staff skills, competency, evaluations,
and onboarding, and ensuring adequate staffing for program needs.
6. Ensure completion of orientation and training of new staff, and volunteers as appropriate.
7. Development of ongoing training for existing staff including creating and implementing a regular training schedule.
8. Communicate policy and information to program staff and ensure compliance with organizational and program
policies and procedures.
9. Coordinate and facilitate regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service training.
10. Develop outreach and public awareness activities and coordinated with the SHC Outreach Coordinator to implement
these activities.
11. Attend and engage in meaningful/related networking and work closely with agencies for referrals and input on
programming as well as maintain program involvement with various organizations, technical assistance providers,
etc. in addressing violence against women and families.
12. Seek alternative funding sources, develop, and write grant applications as applicable.
13. Provides other services and work duties as needed to meet the needs of the Sacred Heart Center and its ability to
carry out its mission.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required in a related discipline.
• Master’s Degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience is required; three (3) years or more is preferred.
• Previous experience in program management is preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in budget development, staff development, program assessment, and
program development are required; three (3) years or more is preferred.
• Experience working in or with Tribal communities and Native American populations is preferred, experience
working on a Reservation is strongly preferred.
• Ensure and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Computer skills – must possess basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel,
and Outlook with the ability to learn job-specific programs and software.
• Interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate effectively with administrative staff and departmental staff.
• Possess both excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Background in grant writing and reporting is preferred.
• Possess a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
Physical Demands
• Uses both hands and wrists repetitively for prolonged periods.
• Driving is required.
• May stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Expectations of Hours Worked
40 hours/week—evenings, weekends and on-call as required
